Narrative

Definition; narrative is the way the story is told, it is the way the story is told, it is the way the series of facts are organised and presented.

How i can incorporate this into my coursework.

- I could base my storyline and narrative on the five stages.
exposition; 'setting the scene' by establishing the small historic town, with the upper class characters.
development; when the girls begin to discover the old railroad
complication; when one of the girls argues that the railroad is haunted, and the people start dying in        mysterious ways.
climax; they find out that the ghost only kills those who do not believe in her.
resolution; the ending is a tad twisted and therefore is not a solution so to speak but this is a part of the genre of the film. Many have been killed and the girl who initially noticed the haunting stays alive however in an asylum.

- I can also use propp's theory and have an antagonist ( the less confident girl) and an antagonist (ghost).

-i can also use barthes theory using his codes to create suspense. for example i can use a hormeneutic code (plot elements that raise questions) such as when only some of the girls that disturbed the ghost die and others don't.(which is actually becuase they did believe in the ghost)
